The initiative is part of a broader government plan to bring forward unexplored locations to attract more visitors.
Land for the Project
The project will be built on 16. 7 acres of land. This land is jointly owned by the Revenue Department and the Andoorkonam Grama Panchayat. A formal event took place on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, where Revenue Minister K. Rajan officially handed over the land’s title deed to Tourism Minister P. A. Mohamed Riyas.

Freedom Park to Boost Innovation

This park is being developed together with the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) and will be located right next to the main project area. The Tourism Department has given the task of preparing a detailed plan to the Project Management Unit, which was formed after the TIM. This unit will look into ways to fully use the site’s tourism potential and connect it with the state’s wider tourism plans. An Expression of Interest (EoI) document, which invites construction partners for the project, is expected to be released in September.

The development of this new tourism hub is happening in the context of Technocity’s ongoing growth. Technocity itself is a large technology park that is still being built in Thiruvananthapuram. It was started in 2005 as the fourth stage of the Technopark’s growth. Technocity is designed to be a complete IT city, covering about 500 acres.
