Under an agreement signed in March 2025, Tata Power aims to set up up to 7 gigawatts (GW) of renewable energy projects in the state. The total investment for this 7 GW capacity is expected to be around ₹49,000 crore (approximately USD 5. 9 billion), making it one of the largest clean energy investments in the state.

Supporting the State’s Green Energy Vision

For the 700 MW wind project, Suzlon will supply its S144 wind turbine generators. These turbines are designed to be efficient, especially in different wind conditions found across India. The S144 model is among the largest wind turbines used in India and can be extended up to 3. 15 MW depending on specific site requirements. A significant aspect of this project is the local manufacturing of these turbines.
“Turbines will be S144 Suzlon wind turbine generators and will be compliant with the government’s newly enhanced Revised List of Models and Manufacturers (RLMM) guidelines on domestic content. Turbines will be made in Andhra Pradesh in Suzlon’s factory there, which has now been revamped and has re-commenced production since 2024,” according to industry reports.
This means that key parts like blades, gearboxes, generators. towers will be produced at Suzlon’s manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh. This factory restarted its production in 2024 after being improved. This focus on local sourcing and manufacturing supports the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative and boosts domestic industry.
Expected Energy Output and Benefits
Once operational, the 700 MW wind power project in Anantapur is expected to generate a large amount of clean electricity. The estimated annual power generation is about 1,840 million units.
